LTS offers both online and on-site training classes covering a wide array of sustainability and life cycle assessment topics spanning the spectrum of beginner to expert levels.

All courses include an hour of 1-on-1 training time*. This additional training time can be scheduled with your instructor at a time convenient for you. This 1-on-1 time is open for you to determine what additional training you need. For example, you may wish to have supplemental training on challenging aspects of courses you’ve taken, or to have more hands-on experience designing LCA models and projects.

Private and custom training may be set up for an additional fee. Please contact us for a quote (price depending on location and number of attendees) and to set up a time.

Online classes will use GoToMeeting. You will be provided with an invitation and password a few days before the class. A reliable internet connection is required. Online classes will be confirmed via email 2 days before the course or when minimum enrollment has been met. Once confirmed, participants will be responsible for payment. If participants need to cancel after the class is confirmed they may make-up the class at a later date.

On-site trainings are 1-2 days, usually from 9am – 5pm. They are typically held in Burlington, VT,  or in conjunction with a conference in varying locations. Check the venue location for each scheduled on-site training. On-site classes will be confirmed via email 2 weeks before the course or when minimum enrollment has been met

Modeling Complex Disposal Options

This course provides instruction on how to model complex end of life scenarios for products, including reuse and recycling. Practical modeling exercises are undertaken in SimaPro using Product Stages. In this course, you will model the life cycle of a common consumer product, and using this example you will model multiple end of life scenarios. 

Communicating LCA Results

This course discusses the critical elements of effective internal LCA communication. Data presentation alternatives that consider the perspective and technical knowledge of an audience are illustrated. Essential components for accurate and transparent communications in power points, and executive and technical summaries are discussed.


Parameters are a powerful feature in SimaPro which can be used to greatly simplify scenario calculations and sensitivity analysis. This course gives students hands-on experience developing and using parameters in the SimaPro LCA software.

Modeling Recycling in LCA

Have you ever thought about the life-cycle of a product that is made from recycled material? What about the life-cycle of a product who’s materials are recycled at the end of life? The objective of this course is to give students an understanding of the procedures/methods being used to best allocate for different recycling scenarios.


The objective of this class is to provide students with expert guidance on carrying out the interpretation phase of an LCA, including instruction on the conceptual background and need for interpretation, review of the ISO guidelines and requirements for interpretation, practical methods and tools for interpretation, and helpful hints and strategies.

Water Footprint (on-site)

This course will familiarize you with the relevant concepts and background information of water footprinting and water use assessment in LCA. A mixture of lecture (day 1) and practical modeling (day 2), this course will guide you through steps for preforming a water footprint study.
